Ready to begin in 2010!

Welcome Masters families!
My name is Tina Gaines and I am your student's tutor for this year in Classical Conversations. My huband's name is John, we have been married for fifteen years. We have three precious children: Mollie (11 - entering 6th grade), Meredith (9 - entering 4th grade), and Luke (2 - his grandma will be babysitting him each Tuesday morning). I am beginning my seventh year using the Classical Conversations curriculum and it has been a bountiful blessing in our homeschool. Please contact me with any questions you have.

I hope you are all enthusiastic and excited after our information packed morning! It was a joy to see all of again after the summer and I am looking forward to a blessed year with each of your families. In preparation for week one just look through the notebook that I sent home with your student as a peek into what we will be doing this year.

Reminders for Week One:
1) Please review the first two pages in the notebook with your child. We will strive to love, honor, and serve God and his people each week in class. Think as a Christian Student! Think as a Classical Student!
2) Please bring two dry erase markers (fine point) and two Vis A Vis markers (fine point). Store them in the pencil pouch in the front of your student's notebook.
3) Please sign up for the online connection for our Classical Conversations Community, ccofgreensboro.blogspot.com. Please remember to individually subscribe for the Foundations page, the Masters page - Mrs. Gaines, and for every other page (class) that is relevant for your family.
4) There is no need to study ahead for class. I will introduce the new material each week in class and give you and your student tools, tips and techniques to help master the material. Just arrive ready to "train your brain to retain". After week one, you will review the material covered in class and then come the next week ready for new information.
5) Presentations for week one will be impromptu so there is no need to prepare a presentation. The presentation schedule for the first semester is found in the back of your red folder. We will review this schedule each week in class highlighting specific skills and topics.

Thank you for a wonderful morning, I am looking forward to seeing you on week one and I will be praying for each of your families. We really missed you Harrison and Jonathan, but I hope you are enjoying your vacation. We will see you in September. Here is a list of the students in our Masters class: Carlyssa Boone, Sam Conrad, Mollie Gaines, Caleb Lambeth, Shawn Lilly, Harrison Mohl, Jonathan Mohl, Zachary Shaw and Hannah Varnell. Enjoy the rest of your summer or your start to the new school year, I will see you on September 7th.

Many blessings,
Tina Gaines
